After having dealt with the date when the Passio Agnetis (BHL 156) was composed the author shows how the text played a fundamental role in the development of the motive of the puella senex in mediaeval Latin feminine hagiography. Such recurrences are sometimes of an exclusively rhetorical and literary nature but in many cases their use, predominantly in the Franco-Belgian region, is expressed in a more complex mimetic fashion, which clearly reveals that the figure of Agnes constituted an important model of perfection which served as an inspiration.

A Bohairic folio, edited as part of a Homily on Penitence attributed in Coptic to Severian of Gabala and paraphrasing CPG 4631, is in fact a close translation of a passage of CPG 4622, which is now attested by two Bohairic witnesses from Saint Macarius’ Monastery.

L’assertion communément admise selon laquelle S. Pierre Damien mourut le 22 février 1072 manque de preuves décisives. Déplacer son obit à l’année 1073 permet d’expliquer sa possible présence lors d’un placitum tenu le 7 juillet 1072 et lors d’une dédicace d’église le 21 octobre 1072. Cette option aide en outre à clarifier la chronologie des avènements de l’archevêque de Ravenne Guibert et du cardinal d’Ostie Gérald. Un tel changement jette une nouvelle lumière sur les réformateurs ecclésiastiques œuvrant au début des années 107.

On the basis of the legendaries of Petrus de Natalibus and Petrus Calo Astrid Krüger examines the largely unknown legends about the origins and conversion of the apostle Bartholomew. Whereas the legend of his conversion is closely related to the Martyrium and serves as a sort of commentary on it, the story of the apostle’s origins is based on the motif of the apocryphal legend of the “girl without hands”, which made its way into international fairy-tale literature.
